• When hiring a foreign domestic helper, the employer must meet the following conditions:

    • The employer's household income must be no less than HK$15,000 per month (for each person hired), or the employer must have enough assets to pay for the entire employment contract period. If the elderly apply to hire a foreign domestic helper, the Immigration Department will refer to the financial proof provided by their children to support the application;
    • The helper and the employer must sign the "Standard Employment Contract (ID407)";
    • Both the employer and the helper have no known bad records;
    • The employer must promise to pay the helper no less than the prescribed minimum wage announced by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government. If no meal is provided, the negotiated meal allowance for the helper shall not be less than HK$1,121 per month;
    • The employer must be a Hong Kong resident who is actually residing in Hong Kong;
    • The helper must work and live at the employer's residence as specified in the standard employment contract;
    • Helpers are not allowed to engage in employment work for others during their stay in the HKSAR;
    • The helper can only perform domestic duties for the employer as set out in the standard employment contract;
    • There is no doubt about the real purpose of the employment relationship between employer and servant.
